A small town with years of rich history behind, Poonamallee is located 20 Km from Chennai City. Blessed with a very auspicious Perumal and Shivan temple, this town also played host to annual Iyappan Thiruvillakku poojai. Hundreds of Iyappan devotees visited the holy shrine of Sabarimala everyyear.
It dawned through a divine inspiration to one of the devotees at a pooja that a temple for Iyappan should be established and the direction and location of the temple was shown.
